About the Site
Our website was designed to be innovative to the future of web design, while still being user friendly.
This year our team followed in the tradition of having a website built and designed completely by team
members, with student members learning from our alumni mentors. We went back to an HTML/CSS coding
language along with JQuery and PHP to achieve a blend of technologies as well as teaching a wide variety
of skills to team members. We even included a MySQL backend for our FIRST Forward pledge. Throughout
production the site was built and tested to work in the top five major browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla
Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera. To ensure operation in all browsers the site was designed
to validate according to W3C standards in both HTML and CSS. In an effort to allow the maximum amount of
users to experience our website we made sure to design handicap accessible pages, thus it is Cynthia Approved.
We integrated the FIRST message by providing FIRST information directly to users who visit our site.
Our website provides us with the means to further spread the message of ILITE and FIRST through our FIRST
Campaign, where we gained support throughout the community and our school. Design wise, the site provided
a clean cut way to gain access to any page. Finally, adding the social networking aspect to our site helped
provide us with a way to communicate with everyone on the team at any time.
